Project Topic 10

Accessing the effectiveness and challenges of staff appraisal system
Performance Appraisal is a major subject of controversy in management circles. It is one of the effective systems that can provide valuable performance information to a number of critical human resource activities such as the allocation of rewards, (for example, merit pay and promotions), feedback on the development and assessment of training needs, other human resource systems evaluation (for example, selection predictors) and performance documentation for legal purposes (Cleveland, Murphy & Williams, 1989).
The general objective is to access the staff appraisal system adopted by an organization
Specific objectives
1. To identify the methods or approaches of appraisal used.
2. To find out employees perception about the appraisal system and its impact on their motivation and satisfaction.
3. Ascertain the effectiveness of staff appraisal system.

Project Topic 9

Accessing the effectiveness and challenges of internal control system
The issue of effective planning for people was brought up long before the advent of human resource management (Richard, 1989). However, there has been little research evidence of its increased use or of its success (Armstrong, 2009). One possible explanation is presented by Storey (1995), who argues that as the developing business environment forces organizations to plan effectively for their human resources, the rapid changes in the business environment also makes it increasingly difficult for organizations to plan with accuracy

The main objective of this study is to access the defectiveness and identify the challenges of human resource planning.

The specific objectives of this study are to:
1.      Find out the Human Resource Planning policies and practices adopted
2.      Establish whether the Human Resource Planning practices and procedures are functioning effectively.
3.      Identify the challenges of human resource planning.

Project Topic 8

Investigate into the effect of leadership style on organizational performance.
Leadership style represents an important aspect of leadership. In agile environments and changing situation, what can survive organization is proper leadership style. Its significance stems from the contribution it makes to the organization’s success. For example, Gebert and Steinkamp (1991), argue that there is a close relationship between the economic success of an organization and leadership style used. Leadership style also has a significant impact on performance (Yousef, 1998).

The main objective of this study is to find out the effects of leadership style on employee attitude.

1.3.2 The specific objectives of this study are to:
1  1. Find out the type of leadership style.
2  2. Ascertain the effect of leadership style on employee attitude.
3  3.To identify the extent which employees are satisfied with the leadership styles of superiors.
